Walk To Your PurePod
The walk to Ruru PurePod is approximately 600m and takes you through the farm. As you make your way to Ruru PurePod you’ll see Mount Karangahake standing tall in front of you.
Birdlife you may hear or see on your walk to the PurePod include the Kereru, Tui, Fantail and Kingfisher.
Remember a small backpack is the best choice and makes for an easier walk too.
A Secluded Setting
As dusk settles into night, prepare for a nighttime show. The unspoiled night sky reveals a canvas of twinkling stars. Accompanied by the gentle murmur of the Waitawheta river, you’ll feel a deep sense of peace.
At night you’ll hear the nocturnal calls of the Ruru (morepork), which inspired the name of the Ruru PurePod.

Things to do
If you are able to tear yourself away from the luxurious comforts of Ruru PurePod, there is much to do in the area. Ruru PurePod offers easy access to the dramatic and beautiful Karangahake Gorge Historic Walkway and the Hauraki Rail Trail. The Hauraki Rail Trail is part of Ngā Haerenga Great Rides of New Zealand and is a great ride for all ages and abilities. If you want to explore the Hauraki Rail Trail but don’t have a bike, don’t worry, there is a range of services and businesses in the region to make your journey more manageable and enjoyable.
Waihi Beach is breathtaking and you can swim or surf anywhere along the 9km of sandy beach. There are also a number of beautiful coastal walks and eateries in this area.
Of course, if such exploration is not quite what you desire, stretch out on the deck and embrace the complete absence of people.

The PurePod has all the facilities you require including a fabulous shower, flush toilet, crisp linen, cooking and eating equipment including a gas hob and barbeque, tea coffee and milk; as well as an assortment of games, local reference books, and a telescope.

You can either bring your own supplies or pre-order a delicious breakfast and dinner food hamper when you make your reservation.
The dinner & breakfast hamper is filled with mouth-watering fresh food that is grown and harvested in the region. You’ll start the evening fare with local cheeses, cured meats, homemade bread, crackers, and dips. For the main course, enjoy the chef’s selection and seasonal salad. Breakfast is muesli and yoghurt.
Check In And Check Out
Check-in is from 3pm (but please make sure you arrive in plenty of time to walk to the PurePod before dark). Check-out is by 12 pm on the day of departure. Once you have confirmed your booking, you will receive special instructions on how to find your secret slice of paradise.
