Nature & Wildlife at PurePods

A Unique Escape into New Zealand’s Wilderness

PurePods are more than just a getaway, they are your personal sanctuary in nature. Each glass eco-cabin is carefully positioned in some of Aotearoa New Zealand’s most stunning and untouched landscapes, far from crowds and immersed in native flora and fauna.

You’ll find our PurePods tucked away in conservation reserves, QEII covenants, regenerating native bush, remote farmland, and along dramatic coastlines. Every PurePod location is chosen for its seclusion, beauty, and the chance to experience New Zealand’s wildlife and wild landscapes up close.

Wildlife at Your Doorstep

From the moment you arrive, nature is all around you. Wake to the sound of native birdsong, watch kererū glide overhead, or spot a piwakawaka (fantail) flitting past as you enjoy your morning coffee. Depending on your PurePod location, you may also hear the haunting call of the ruru (morepork) at night or glimpse coastal wildlife like seals and seabirds.

If you’re especially lucky, you might even encounter our national bird, the kiwi, in its natural habitat. Stewart Island (Rakiura) is one of the few places in New Zealand where you can spot wild kiwi. To help with this, our Stewart Island PurePods feature special red lighting that’s gentle on nocturnal wildlife.

So, as you step outside at dusk or peer through the glass walls of your PurePod under the stars, you may just be treated to a rare and magical encounter with a kiwi.
