What are PurePods?
PurePods was founded in New Zealand in 2012 and has been expanding ever since.
Located in isolated beauty, these glass cabins let you experience all the charm of the great outdoors, but from inside your hotel room.
Each glass PurePod has a flushing toilet, shower, lighting and heating, as well as a small kitchen and BBQ set for sunny afternoons.
“Imagine being all alone in a stunning natural New Zealand location, ensconced in a luxury glass cabin that has a glass roof, a glass floor beneath so you can see ferns growing and three walls all of glass,” CEO Stephanie Hassall told The Memo.
We are imagining it now.
A glass haven
The PurePods’ glass walls don’t just make for a striking design, but can really help you to reconnect with nature.
“This is a totally different experience from living in a mega city,” says Hassall.
After dusk, when you’re not on the lookout for local wildlife, you can stare up through the glass roof at a blanket of stars – PurePods even provide a telescope and a star map to help you lose yourself in the great beyond.
Perfect for privacy
Obviously as wonderful as it is to look out of a PurePod, glass makes it’s also easy to look into.
Lucky for you, each PurePod is located completely away from all other human activities, so you can enjoy every moment of your romantic getaway without worries about any roaming eyes.
“If you still feel shy each pod does have blinds and a shower curtain,” adds Hassall, “though I’d recommend leaving the blinds up so you can watch the sunrise from the comfort of the bed.”
Perhaps not one for late-risers…
Where can you stay?
Currently all PurePods are located in New Zealand and cost NZD $490 (£267) per night, with the option of also adding on a local food package for an extra $135 (£73).
The inaugural PurePod opened in Little River (an hour’s drive from Christchurch), and two further pods have been set up this year in Kaikōura (the whale watching capital of New Zealand).
Looking forward, the team has several further new venues opening in the coming months, although they have yet to confirm where these will be.
“Each PurePod will continue to have its own distinct location, whether it has sea views, overlooks a winery or is surrounded by rolling hills and paddocks,” says Hassall.
