Your journey to Atatū PurePod begins with a scenic drive through a picturesque, historic farming area. Enjoy the changing landscapes as they shift from rolling farmland to lush forest. You might even spot cows wandering the roadside or see a local farmer guiding a mob of sheep. This tranquil setting sets the tone for a peaceful escape in nature.
The 750-metre walk to the PurePod takes about 15 minutes. As you stroll, immerse yourself in the sounds of nature, from the calls of bellbirds (korimako) to the playful flutters of fantails (piwakawaka), and perhaps spot a rifleman (tītipounamu). The path winds through native bush, deepening your connection to the serene surroundings. Please note, the PurePod may not be suitable for those with mobility challenges due to the steps leading up to it. We recommend wearing suitable walking shoes and bringing a small backpack for added comfort.
Imagine waking up to the sun rising over the water right in front of you, filling your mornings with warmth and light.
While staying at Atatū PurePod, there are a variety of engaging activities on the farm. For those who love biking, there’s an off-road mountain bike loop that stretches 8 km, offering stunning views towards the Hurunui River mouth and the Pegasus Bay coastline. The track is well signposted, and guests can buy a map for $18.50 from the farmer to get started. With some steep gradients for an extra thrill, you can complete the loop in about 1.5 hours with an average fitness level. If you don’t have your own bike, don’t worry!
You can hire electric mountain bikes from the farmer for just $80 per rider.
